A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE COMPANY

WIDNES in the 1960's was a lot different to the Town it is today. Widnes and Runcorn were two separate towns and Taxi needs were serviced mainly by Private Hire cars. In fact WIDNES had only one hackney carriage and Runcorn about thirty!

There were a few local Private Hire companies including the business that would evolve into HALTON TAXIS. Originally known as ABC Taxis the business operated from behind a Newsagent's shop at Simms Cross, Widnes.

In 1974 the present premises at 81 Victoria Road WIDNES were acquired, and Halton Taxis commenced trading. (The name HALTON TAXIS was chosen as the two Towns of Widnes and Runcorn were about to be combined and renamed Halton Borough.)

From the outset it was decided that the Office would operate twenty-four hours a day, as this would provide a dependable service for both the public and in particular Business Customers. Local Businesses knew that in the event of breakdown or accident, HALTON TAXIS were always available. The passing years saw many changes.

HALTON TAXIS is the longest established Taxi Company in the Halton Borough. The Office is manned 24 hours a day providing a dependable service for both our Public and Business Customers.

We operate a fleet of Hackney Cars & Cabs, Private Hire Cars,and all Vehicles & Drivers are vetted, licensed and insured. We also have a number of Wheelchair Accessible Cabs, 7 seaters and Lady Drivers. We offer monthly accounts for local businesses

Having a policy of installing the best equipment available, HALTON TAXIS upgraded to a Data Dispatch system in 2000 linked to Satellite Tracking.When a Customer phones for a Taxi, the booking details are dispatched automatically to the nearest vehicle. This has resulted in a faster service and a stress free environment for both the Driver to work and the Customer to relax and enjoy the ride. In the years since then, equipment has been regularly upgraded to keep this Company at the forefront in its field. The voice channel remains but is now just for security, queries and chat.

Instead of waiting outside or looking out the window, just relax! -When your Taxi arrives outside your phone rings once to let you know! ! This can be used both from home and from your mobile when out and about.This is completely free!

Always at the fore front of new technology  we have again upgraded to the latest Autocab system to bring our Customers new benefits.

This includes fitting new data terminals into all vehicles with full  colour moving map GPS to ensure Drivers know the quickest routes .This will be a great advantage to new starters and ensure they are efficient from day one.The screens are also the biggest available to ensure even those Drivers with poorer eye sight can easily read them.

E-BOOKING - Our Account and Regular Customers can now book by email by logging in to our dispatcher system and can enter, edit or cancel bookings as they chose.

Just email us your Name, address and phone number and we will send you a password.

- AUTO BOOKING - With the installation of our new state of the art Voice Recognition system you can now book your Taxi instantly from your phone without having to speak to anyone! You will be asked if you want a taxi now from that address, if you do, press 1 and your taxi is already on its way!

(Of course you also have the option to talk to a Receptionist if you prefer).
